Is it a bad idea for students to inform their teachers of errors in the curriculum?

Anytime I come across an error in the curriculum of a course, my first instinct is to inform the teacher. Now, when I say error, I'm not talking about insignificant mistakes in grammar. I would never be such a dick as to email my teacher over "there" vs "their" on a slide! I email when I catch serious mistakes which cause me to be concerned about the misinformation other students are receiving. For example, if the question and/or answers on a quiz are contradictory to something we learned in the materials. This can happen multiple times a semester with pre-made online courses. Some teachers are grateful, but others get annoyed. I would really appreciate the perspective of any teachers who have been on the teacher side of this situation. Are they annoyed with me or the course distributors? Will informing them of errors help with recommendations (because I'm smart and thorough) or will it hurt (because I'm picky and annoying)? Thank you for your input!
