Who has experience with a preschooler skipping a large part of kindergarten?

In our country kindergarten starts the day preschoolers turn four. They start in grade 0, advance to grade one and two in the next school years, and then enter elementary school.

Our four year old is pretty advanced and, although he just started grade 0 last November, he has now been forwarded to grade two, and will likely start elementary school in September.

This is both exiting and scary for all involved. It doesn’t seem at all common to forward a student at this age, and we can’t seem to find real life people, with real life experiences with this.

Have any of you been in our situation? How did your child do? Was he/she happier? Did he/she fit in easily?

I know in theory my sweet little boy wil be with children that are closer to his developmental age, but they wil be so much bigger and older... I am worried 😧 I just hope he will be ok...
