Please help a first generation student decide on graduate school!

I have a lot in my mind. Can someone please help me decide on a grad program? I’m having a hard time because of funding. So I’m not sure and it sucks that I can’t make up my mind.

Regarding Columbia MSW. They gave me 22k in scholarship $$ but I still need to borrow money around 50k, btw I’m borrowing the max in unsubsidized loans. I still have debt from undergrad. How would I be able to pay that back on a social work salary?

So I’m hesitant to do The MSW, despite it being at Columbia School of Social Work. I’m indecisive because I always and want to continue to pursue a JD. my ultimate goal was to become a lawyer, but working in legal services hasn’t been challenging. That’s why I went to the trouble of applying for the maw at Columbia. I figured I could pursue other interests.

My plan was to do the MSW, and jump right into the law program. So many questions come to my mind, how would I use the MSW to practice law? What if I max out on loans, and I cannot borrow if I need to for my JD?

I would love to do the MSW, and no doubt that I will excel. The experience would be incredible for me. But I feel the need to pick one over the other.

Again, as a first generation college graduate and now pursuing a master or trying to decide on the right i am struggling to make a decision.

I could just walk away from the MSW, and work and study for the LSAT to get a good score and go into law school.

What are your thoughts? Any advice?
