Should psychometrics be used in education?

Often times companies pay good money for psychometric consultants in things like Clifton Strengths, Big 5, MBTI and DISC to maximize people’s effectiveness based on their natural inclinations.

Since standardization is the most common gripe with our education system, wouldn’t customization be the answer?

What if the school system took metrics of children’s natural strengths and inclinations and then customized their education? Wouldn’t that engage their interest and confidence and lead to a higher likelihood of achieving mastery in a field they are passionate about later in life?

Are there any precedents to this?
