My introduction: I'm not sure the best way to word this. Unemployed, disabled, I'm 24 years old, failed school (GCSE), I only got a C in important topics, which is the highest for that level, because there's two tiers I think. There's foundation and another one I forgot the name of. I think mine was foundation, the highest grade to get there is C. I also have learning difficulties and autism. I dropped out of college too. My dream from as young as eight years old was to be a games tester, and a professional gamer. In my spare time, I tried to that the best I could to achieve that dream. With some other dreams too. One being able to draw art, and later on, to write music and write fictional stories (During college). Goes without saying, I never achieved a dream, but I still follow it.
Question: I was wondering what, if any, is the success rate of educating children on the career path/s they want to follow vs the standard school education of key topics like english, math, science, IT, P.E., sometimes history and religion.
Let's say a child follows their dream of becoming a digital artist and there's a school specifically for this, where likeminded children follow that dream, and are taught everything about art for however long it takes, in the hopes of getting an early career in art. How effective is this? What are the pros and cons?
And likewise, effectiveness of a normal education system as described as above.
I'm interested to know. I kinda hated school as a kid, mainly for bullying and how hard some topics were to understand. Is school even necessary? I also kinda feel like because western societies tend to have better access to technology, it's also taken for granted in some cases. I didn't need school looking back on it, I could have learnt everything at home in my own time, I learnt grammar and english through multiplayer games. Science through YouTube, IT I just naturally know from having a computer and having the internet. A lot of other topics tie into the internet.
