Inner city schools are so despite for teachers that they are willing to hire underqualified teachers

I know somebody just started as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher at an inner city school and she doesn’t even have a STEM degree. Her degree is in psychology. She got a masters in teaching but then again, not a STEM degree. I’m like wtf? Any decent school will not hire a math teacher without a good math background. When I was in middle school, my 8th grade math teacher was a retired engineer. She’s only qualified to be an elementary teacher IMO
