I ran a comparison of first grade curriculum standards in social studies across the 50 states, and I included Canadian provinces, as well. I found that there is some serious nuance, but a number of general similarities. Most notably, I found that only a handful of States emphasize American history at this age, but most extend the kindergarten focus on family and community. It's relevant to immediate surroundings and day-to-day life on the ground in America, but generic, considering the distinctness of American identity and the influence of outside forces.
