Does it matter where you go to school anymore?

In this new configuration of life where everyone is learning remotely, are we heading towards a world where it doesn't matter where you apply?

Is everything going to be remote as an option now? Is it a bad idea to apply to a university with cheaper tuition now that you don't physically have to go to any classes?

I live in Ontario and am considering eventually moving to BC, so I'm wondering if I should look into going to UBC or UVIC while still living here. I guess for sciences they would still have to do labs.

What are your thoughts?
