Educational Event!

Hi! :) I'm not sure if this is the appropriate subreddit to post this so if this is isn't allowed please let me know and I'll take it down!

I'm part of the All Girls STEM Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in San Diego entirely run by high school students. Our mission is to challenge the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields by encouraging the future generation. AGSS works hard to inspire and excite young girls from grades 3-8 to pursue their interests in STEM fields, through free monthly workshops and events (now virtual).

In these monthly workshops, we teach topics that range from rocketry to programming in an encouraging environment. Overall, the organization has had over 4800 participants from more than 250 schools, and we are still growing!

Our next event is an Astronomy Workshop on November 22nd 2:00 - 3:30 PST through Zoom where together we will compete in trivia games, tackle challenging problems solved by NASA scientists, and discuss the big questions of the universe!

Sorry for the long introduction, but basically does anyone have any tips on how to be engaging during online workshops or teaching? We want to try to try to spark their curiosities as much as possible during these times and it's difficult online. We don't want to try to bore them! :( We also want to try to reach out to more students to participate as our sign-ups have been decreasing during the pandemic (which is understandable) so if anyone else has suggestions about this feel free to comment!

Sorry again for such a long post, and to all the teachers out there, we seriously appreciate you for being so amazing as after being on the teaching end, we understand how much work is put in to help us get a great education, especially now! And to all the students, we got this! :D
