Tomorrow is my math final which has been made optional (because we changed to quarter system so we are moving twice as fast) in my province. I am potentially the only one taking it because my mom is forcing me. I have an 80 ovr in the class and it will definitely drop.
I am in my last year of high school and don’t want to risk losing my conditional admission I recently received because I followed what my irrational mom told me to do. She claims I need it because the exam is only optional in my province and not elsewhere so I can’t compete with others. This makes no sense as I am already going to university in my province.
By the way, universities are taking our marks at FACE VALUE. Meaning if you did the test they’ll look at your mark after the test, if you didn’t do it, they’ll look at your final mark only. They are now looking at them equally.
Guys and girls, I really really really don’t know what to do. There is no right answer here. If I skip it which my teacher advised each student to do, I will be shamed forever by my mom but I stand a chance at competing with other students in my grade. If I write it my mark will drop and I might not get into my engineering program that I already have a potential spot in. My teacher has tried to text my mom but she refuses to reply to him.
I really don’t want to regret my choice so please help me out. I don’t feel like this is a choice a 17 year old should be forced to make.
