As I am being more involved with discussions prior to officially joining, I'm learning that there are a lot of problems big and small that are being discussed but my fellow board members seem to be under the impression that they need to solve these problems from scratch. I want to find a subreddit where other community leaders discuss different ideas and ways they've addressed problems because I'm sure there is some overlap between their situations and ours. Obviously I would like to avoid crossing any lines of confidentiality or legalities, but I would like to be able to discuss the housing crisis in my county and how my school district could possibly utilize their abundance of empty lots to make consistent income for the district by providing housing.
Another concept is our zero tolerance policy for discrimination or hate crimes is unenforceable without catching someone red-handed. One example is a parent came to me and claimed their child getting called the f-word and n-word and chased because he's gay and black. But there is not any way to followup beyond a discussion with the accused. Surely there has been some benchmark out there on how to approach and prevent this.
