Teachers physically abusing children ought to be a crime everywhere

I live in the middle east where (unfortunately) hitting children is not only allowed but actually encouraged by the fathers of the child in order to make the kid "more responsible and manly".

I believe that this form of abuse is one of the main reason behind the failure of the education system in the middle east simply because schools seem more like prison camps rather than places that encourage your curiosity and imagination.

I remember seeing little children being spanked so hard by Arabs from other nationalities, the image haunts me to this day.

Thankfully it became illegal around the early 2000's and yet I've actually heard debates on the radio as to "bring back" this cruelty so that the next generation won't become "soft".

It's sickening to say the least.
