BA degree and specializing vs BSc

Disclaimer: the picture shown is not me lol, it's the first thing generated by the link i inserted at the end!

Hello all,

I'm currently a high school student in Ireland, and I'm considering my college options at the moment. For context, one idea I've always had is high school teachings in the areas of Mathematics and Economics. In Ireland, you need to do an undergraduate degree in your relevant area before doing a Masters degree in Education, which is two years.

My "local" university offers a BSc in Mathematics and Economics as a four year degree, which would make my total time six years. The college also offers a general BA degree, in which you pick four subjects in first year and then specialize in two subjects in the second and third year. Mathematics and Economics are both options in this degree.

Here is my question, in terms of working in industry would there be a difference between the 4 year BSc and the 3 year BA? Both are suitable for teaching, and for obvious cost-related reasons a 3 year degree would be far more attractive. I know that these types of BA degrees are traditionally for Arts subjects like politics or sociology, but in this case it appears to be possible to specialize in Mathematics and Economics which to me sounds ideal.

Here's the BSc

Here's the BA

Thank you all in advance!
