School Actively put me Down Because I'm a Creative. Why?

Hi, this might not be the right place but...

I was doing some thinking, and reflecting about when I was in school, which was only a decade ago nearly (I'm 25) and I came to the realisation that the school I was in was actively trying to force me to give up my (not only) natural talent for the arts, but love and passion for it pretty much the entire way through.

I'm a natural creative; 3D artist professionally, musician/DJ, writer and amateur film maker in my spare time, I have always had a natural ability with creativity, yet in school, I didn't do too well in my GSCEs (c-grade) before dropping them entirely for the creative subjects in A-level and university.

When I was in school, the careers guidance lady that came in around 2008 told me that it would be a silly idea to follow my want to make video games. Perhaps she saw that as just a teenager who liked computer games. Now I make video games professionally, after getting a First-class degree in Games Production and following on to my (now) 4-year long position as a 3D turned Technical Artist.

I don't understand why schools put down creatives, why we're not valued as much as Bob and Sarah who are amazing at maths and science. I guess you could chalk it up to our society as a whole not valuing creatives, but I don't think that's an excuse, schools should be pushing students to make a statement on the system, not put them into cubicles for Mr. Executive (even though I know that's what schools are designed for).

Really, I'd just like a discussion from teachers, and those above, about why schools' artistic subjects are being forgotten.

TLDR; why do schools dislike creatives?

EDIT: When I say "put down" I mean, when I was getting C's in Maths, English and Science, but A* in ICT and Music, the school, instead of putting me on a focused path for the arts, forced me out of them pretty much in favour of "additional maths" and the like.
