English Literature curriculum from a students prospective.

I love english, I think creative and curious people innately love the english arts. Do most of us love the pieces of english literature in the curriculum? No. Why is that? I have multiple reasonings on why and maybe its solely one or none that's up to you. The way majority of teachers teach english literature, most of them either cannot understand the pieces enough to teach it to teenagers or understand themselves. Understandably it is for the most part old english literature and translated poorly by teachers and the poems, short stories and novels over the years are hard to comprehend, especially to us.

The thesis has no correlation to today's generation if it is only relatable to olden days. The thesis itself is understandable but to get to it can be painstakingly waste of time compared to newer literature, it's not entertaining, it's not any new meanings we haven't grasped in movies, newer novels and even moms facebook poems. I do think its important to know where all english literature began from and how our favorites are influenced by old english pieces. Respectfully it was a masterpiece, but you can have the most mind changing literature from today's generation from a scarcely spoken language or terribly translated and it is no longer what it is. Maybe those who study that language or able to translate it in their own ways can learn to love it but for the most part it's not worth the praise or in curriculum.

English terms, my teacher just gave me a 40 page booklet with around 50-100 terms and frankly I don't know half of them even though I read everyday. Is it necessary to give micro labels, for example "Lend" - an introductory section of a news story. Is that necessary to learn for english literature, don't we already know that the introduction is going to be about the focus of the whole piece? Oh this ones my favorite "Internal rhyme" a word inside a line rhymes with another word on the same line theres like 30 of these unnecessary terms that are just sub versions of another term or system we already know.

I know this sounds like I despise literature but I don't, I despise the lack of freedom, the lack of "art" in english literature curriculum.
