Hi. I’m an elementary PE teacher. Recently I had a student get a concussion while playing a tag game (All Horses Run) on the grass. I didn’t see the accident, however as far as the student can recall he was running and a tagger tagged him too hard and knocked him off balance leading to a concussive fall.
I want to address this by doing some activities centered around preventative safety. My question is what kind of safety learning activities would you suggest?
I’m thinking a lesson including (1) how to correctly fall and land with a mat, (2) a lesson on spatial awareness by having everyone randomly move in an area and trying to keep three feet apart, (3) giving a long talk about to being too competitive that we are unsafe with our bodies.
Any suggestions out there? Thank you.
