What are the pros and cons of Orton-Gillingham literacy instruction for neurotypical k-3 students?

Hello,

My kids' school recently partnered with a local non-profit (https://www.grovesacademy.org/) to re-train K-3 teachers with their literacy curriculum, which seems to be based upon Orton-Gillingham instruction, except extending it to all students, not just students with dyslexia.

I'm struggling to find any good data or even unbiased testimonials about the pros-and-cons, as well as efficacy, of the program. For those of you familiar with the method, what are your experiences? Any comparisons to other curricula?
