Setting up endowments for public school

Hello, not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this but hopefully someone can provide some insight.

I am soon to be graduating from law school and would like to set up an endowment for my high school. Specifically, to be used for the purchase of winter clothing for underprivileged kids. Does anyone have any information regarding how to go about this? I would like it to be an endowment with a certain distribution every year so that it never runs out. Although I'm unsure of how the management of the endowment and its investments would work. I am hesitant to hand it over to a school board lol.

Any information, anecdotal or not, would be appreciated.
