Split Class 1/2 as Younger Child?

Parent here in Canada. We had our daughter enrolled in primary French last year and have decided to switch her to English this year.

I feel she’s delayed with her speech/writing etc

The new school had put her in a 1/2 mixed class… is this is mad as I assume it’ll be for her? Her teacher last year had her set up to meet with a speech pathologist but due to Covid she wasn’t able to.

Thoughts?
