Hey all, I work as an assistant in a Kindergarten class and this girl has never been to a preschool or daycare and she’s just a bit behind her peers in writing. We’ve worked quite a bit on pencil holding but she’s still not holding it correctly. Whenever I correct her, she says “It hurts!” We’ve tried pencil grips and many different explanations, but she is adamant that they all hurt. At first I thought maybe she was just being stubborn but now I’m wondering if there might be something else going on. I’ve talked to the teacher about it but she’s not particularly worried since the class has a few kids without more glaring issues. But I can see this girl struggling to write when all her friends can already write a little bit and she is consistently the slowest to finish. For reference, she grips the pencil with her whole fist and writes like this. It’s been several months and I can’t seem to break her of the habit. Any advice??
