Trade Or College/Program

I am thinking of taking either one, a program or course around computers or a trade such as carpentry, electrician or metalwork.

I may have to do either one online and wanted to know what may be useful in the longrun since I am 18 now and want to have money to support my family and hopefully leave out a tiny town I am in sooner or later, oldest out of my siblings. Idk if I should still pursue college while I am working if I ever go the trade route and that self teaching myself aspects such as programming is worth it.

Willing to take any advice :)
