My wife is being harassed at her school.

She’s in the second semester of the full-time internship she needs to complete before becoming a school counselor. She works in the same office as this dweeb who will only call her “intern,” who regularly teases her about being too young and idealistic, and who makes really weird passive-aggressive digs at her personally.

He makes other people uncomfortable, too, but the office culture there writes it off as him being “weird” and “quirky.” The Trumpy principal there regularly laughs at his bad jokes.

I obviously want to find this guy and, let’s say, “coerce” him into adjusting his level of professionalism, but that’s not an actual option. My wife repeatedly asked him to stop, but he didn’t, and now she just plays along with it, but she hates it. She also refuses to go to HR about him because she’s afraid of retaliation.

I’ve tried telling her that I’ve worked in six different schools and have NEVER seen an intern treated like that - and that she needs to talk to someone in HR about this.

Are her concerns justified? Does she have ANY recourse here at all? Is there anything she can do to make this prick leave her alone?
