Student teaching tips

Hello, I am starting my clinical for next week and was wondering if anyone has tips for how I can do well. Obviously I’ll be doing the projects the teacher will provide for me, checking on students, asking if the teacher needs help grading anything.

The issue is that due to my schedule, I can’t stay after school gets out at 2:50 because I have a class both of those days starting at 3:30 plus the 30 minute commute from my school back to campus. I was advised to show up an hour early to school to help my teacher out, but other people are telling me this isn’t enough with the teacher I’m going to be with. I don’t know how else to show that I am dedicated to my work. Next semester I am student teaching with this teacher too so I need to make a good impression. But I’m told that not staying until 5-6pm doing extra work is really going to hurt me. I did meet them already and I could tell they didn’t like that I have to leave right at 2:50 every day and told me thats going to be a huge problem.

And no, I can’t change my class schedule. My counselor for the major told me I won’t be able to graduate on time if I drop that specific class. It won’t be offered again until SPRING of 2023!! My counselor didn’t have any advice for me either but warned if I don’t put in more work to my clinical, I could fail!

So I’m caught in the middle here. What are some extra things that I can do during the school day to help my teacher see I’m doing all the work for my credits. I’ve made it this far and climbed so many mountains to get here. Help!

Thank you

Ps I’m going to be in a 2nd grade class
