Looking for a compelling essay that supports general education in both high school and college

 As a high school upperclassman and someone looking at colleges, I find myself increasingly frustrated with the prospect of continuing a gen-ed that does not contribute towards either my personal interests or future aspirations. I understand that I am young and very well might have a more self-centered world view than I am currently aware of, but I fail to fully comprehend the emphasis on a gen-ed. I would like to be convinced that a gen-ed is in fact beneficial to me so that I can continue my education with an understanding mindset opposed to a resentful one If anyone knows of an essay I have described, please link it below and feel free to add your own opinion on the matter.
