This has been a tough school year. I am in my second year of teaching and it’s been problem after problem. Parents complain about homework, about me talking Spanish to another student, what they read (an article on Indigenous People Day), and asking for a student to put away backpack to name a few.
Admin even said during one of our “talks” that I wasn’t being truthful, which was hurtful.
I feel like anything I say is being analyzed and critiqued. I am trying my best to be a great teacher and role model for my 6th grade students. Monday I responded to an email to a parent and she took the email as rude and disrespectful. I apologized and let her know that wasn’t what I was trying to say. Admin called and said that I was unprofessional. I feel this is what I will be fired for.
My mental health is suffering and my therapist wants me to go on anti-depressants. This will be my final year teaching and I would quit but I don’t have another job lined up.
My question is how do I not get fired? I have never been fired and I am nervous.
