12 year-old is working 7 am - 1 am, 6 days a week due to school work

My child is 12, in 7th grade, and currently working 7 am to 1 am Monday - Friday and Sunday. We force her take a break on Saturdays.

Her current teacher does not prepare lesson plans, but asks her students to prepare lessons on each subject to teach one another. I understand that this type of teaching can be helpful, but I am concerned the kids are working 18 hours a day (including virtual school), on their computers, to teach each other. It’s too much screen time and very unhealthy! My child has also complained that this is a very ineffective way of learning math and science, and she feels that she is not learning anything.

I am really concerned that she has not been able to step outside for the past two weeks because her workload is so heavy. I do not think she is the only student feeling this way, as multiple students have complained, yet the teacher has doubled down on their approach.

I understand that the teachers are also facing a hard time teaching in this pandemic, but I am concerned this is very unhealthy and taxing on the students. Has anyone been in this situation before? How might we escalate this as other families have raised concerns and the teacher has not agreed to reduce the work load slightly?
