Anyone else hate how Black History is taught in Elementary schools?

I think the way it is taught is damaging to the self esteem of black kids. I'm tired of black history being taught ONLY through the lense of mistreatment, disenfranchisement, and slavery. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, MLK, Rosa Parks, George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington...I'm really tired of it all. Black people's history long predates slavery and Jim Crow in America. How can black history be taught in schools without kids internalizing the wrong messages?
