I am almost 35yo. I don't have a satisfying career. I got a few IT certifications but they don't seem to be enough to land a proper job. Should I start college/university or just keep applying and taking certifications?

Long short story, I realized that a few IT certs are not enough for landing a proper job, so I am considering to start college/university. I am 35yo and only have a high school diploma. I have been working in finance and customer service but I really want a career change. Should I just keep taking certificates or a degree would be much more useful? I would love to start studying again but I am not a young dude anymore.

I am sure many of you are just shaking their head but really... I don't consider myself stupid nor ignorant, unfortunately I took a lot of wrong decisions in the past. I am afraid I am approaching my 40s without having a proper job, career, etc. I am ready to give everything I got from now on, I just don't want to make another - and probably one of the very last - mistake.
