[US] Do I go to school and hope for a bailout (or another one)?

Hey, I'm looking to go back to school for my Bachelors. I currently have a direct transfer degree for most any school in state, and am kind of in the beginning stages of figuring out my path for getting back into school.

I currently have no debt, and about 25k in assets. If I went through financial aid and took on loans, I'd likely have to pay for around have of my degree. I know here in the US they are talking about forgiving 10-50k in student loan debt, but I would likely not get my degree before then. Additionally, they're talking about trying to make public college here free, or lower cost. If this happens I am worried I would be caught in the middle of these two events and would be left with debt because of my timing.

I know this is speculative, but I like to plan for any "likely" scenario.

Thoughts?
