My friend can’t go to the college she wants because of travel cost

(I’m from the UK so college isn’t uni in this context)

My entire friend group is going to the same college after secondary school apart from this one girl who can’t afford the travel. She lives in a village quite a way out from our town, and the college is quite a way away from the town anyway. She worked out that travel there and back each year would be about £1500, and her mum earns around £500 over the limit for travel bursaries so she can’t get any financial aid and her mum just can’t afford it.

She’s one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met and it makes me so sad that she’s stuck going to our local college (which, honestly, isn’t that great) when she deserves so much more.

It’s so unfair she can’t be with the rest of us just because of travel costs. I wish there was something I could do to help :(
