We're used to the idea of a September to June calendar for elementary school and high school. College and University is pretty similar. Will it (and should it) always be this way? Could something better be done in the post-Covid world?

In light of the Pandemic, are there any proposals worth considering that would be alternatives to the way we schedule academic studies throughout the year now? How about year-round school availability, meaning smaller class sizes, more flexibility, but no one having to be there all year long?
