What’s good y’all just wanted to clear smth up. Why do a lot of international student hate the UK??? I see so many comments on forums deterring ppl from goin to the UK saying stuff like “Don’t go to the UK”, “Why do ppl even go to the UK”, “UK is a hungry beast”(???lol). Is it rly THAT bad? I’ve applied to and got accepted to a couple of good unis in both US and UK and rn after looking at a lot of such comments I’m reconsidering my UK choices. Out of all my offers, I’m considering Drexel University in the US, University of Bristol and University of Warwick in the UK (although I’ve yet to receive a decision from Warwick).
For me, the most important thing is being able to stay/settle and work wherever I go. Coming back to my country after graduation is NOT an option for me- I cannot emphasize that enough. I plan on studying Accounting & Finance and go on to work in the professional services sector/business sector in general and thus, Warwick is my top choice (given that I get in) since it’s one of the best of the best for business. That being said, what would the route/process look like for a student studying in that area from the above mentioned unis wanting to stay and work in the UK after graduation? With the new PSW Graduate scheme, would I be naive in thinking that I’ll be able to get a decent job straight out of Uni within those 2 years included in the PSW and be able to stay and work in the UK eventually towards ILR? Also, how does UK compare to the US in terms of ease of settlement and job prospect for international undergrad students?
Also looking for comparison between the unis if there are any current/former students. Ik Drexel has a unique coop program which will give me work experience and thus help my job prospects and they will also provide me some financial aid. However, Bristol and Warwick is ranked way better than Drexel with Warwick Business School being a legend in the business realm and one of the most targeted unis by graduate employers in the UK, better teaching quality and support but a worse social life than Bristol. But I’m willing to spend a few quiet nights if it means going to Warwick will give me better job prospects than Bristol. However I should mention that I like the holistic approach of US education system rather than UK’s exam focused system.
From a finance perspective, all 3 unis are pretty much in the same range for me with Drexel being maybe the slightly cheaper option but it isn’t guaranteed that all their coops will be paid so that’s an uncertainty.
I preciate anyone taking the above mentioned points into consideration and giving their perspective either from experience or knowledge.
