How do I stop feeling so bitter about my friends test results?

I (F16) should’ve done my GCSEs this year but they were cancelled, and are now evidence based (our teachers use evidence, eg mocks, class work, to give us a grade). Tbh I’ve always done very well academically, my October mocks I got all 8s and 9s in every subject.

This friend, “Abbie”, is also very academic, but in a way that I’ve always found a bit annoying. It’s almost like her entire personality is based off how smart she is, she knows a lot of general knowledge and is the type of person that speaks/uses vocabulary more like a 40 year old woman than a 16 year old girl. She got a vary of results in November, from a fail to a grade 8. We’re good friends, but it’s always felt a bit competitive between us in who will do better academically, and whenever I do better (which, honestly, is usually) she says everything possible to make me feel stupid or embarrass me.

Most schools are using the 2020 papers as a last set of papers for final evidence towards our grade. My problem is that Abbie is finding all the papers, lying about it, doing extremely well and acting really smug about it. She did this in the last set of mocks (I know because I sit next to her in a lesson, before the exam i saw her scrolling through a paper and when I asked what it was, she told me it was a mark scheme for a past paper in a different subject. When we went into the exam there was a diagram on the paper that I saw over her shoulder), but didn’t do as well.

Our mocks aren’t for another couple of weeks, but I can guarantee that Abbie’s ‘revision’ is going to be memorising the mark schemes and she’ll end up with grade 9s, no doubts. I think maybe I’m just being bitter, but it upsets me that I actually deserve these high grades and she’s just going to cheat and get them, and then lie about how she got them. It sounds horrible but I don’t think I could bare it if she did better - I’d never hear the end of it.

How can I stop being bitter? I don’t want to cheat but the closer we get to exams the more I’m tempted just because of Abbie.
