So for Context, I’m 27 from the UK and I didn’t do great in secondary school pretty much 2Cs is the best I managed.
I plan on going back to school, a choice I made at the start of this year. I would like to go into the field of science, I’ve always loved it and think it’ll be a great fit for me.
Here’s the Issue, right now I’m working a full time job in a warehouse, working 9-6 Monday-Friday and I wanted to take my A levels online ( Maths, Biology and Chemistry ) this would be over several years, part time staggered so I’m not overwhelmed ) so I’d be about 32-33 when I finished. My other main concern is money, it’s a bit expensive to pay monthly as I’m earning just £1200 a month and keeping pretty much nothing after all my bills have gone through. I think I could manage it with a struggle.
My partner has suggested to skip A levels and go straight into Open Uni doing Natural Science ( my initial choice for science ) I see her point, but I feel like I’d be at a massive disadvantage due to not being in education for so long and doing so bad in school. I can get financial help to pay for it so that isn’t a worry. Aside from the issue I mentioned, I also have the worry I may not like Nat Science and decide later I want to do another type of science and have wasted time.
I just need some advice on where I should go, as it’s a big step for me either way and it’s a change for the better.
Sorry if this isn’t written well, my writing skills aren’t great!
Thank you all in advance and I appreciate all the help!
