This is something that has been on my mind for a really long time and I would like some advice/opinion on what I should do. I feel like I'm at a split road and will have to make a decision by September this year.
So I'm currently 20 and will be turning 21 this year. I dropped out of University in February 2020 after attending for one term. I didn't like the location or the course and had a lot of personal issues to deal with.
I have now somewhat got my life together and am deciding between going to back to university to study psychology or completing a degree apprenticeship at an IT solutions firm. The university is ok for psychology and is better than the universities that provide the IT degree. I've confirmed the university offer and am on the last stages of two degree apprenticeship applications (Accenture and Capgemini).
I have weighed out the pros and cons of both but I keep switching between the two and cannot make my mind up.
University Pros: studying something I enjoy, going to a location that I would like, freedom to work on myself
University Cons: debt lol, what I will do after university?
DA Pros: company pays for the degree, 3/4 years work experience, no debt, salary
DA Cons: I feel like I'll just get bored, the structure of work to me feels a lot like school and having spent that time at university, I've realised I like the freedom and autonomy which I think I'll lack with the DA
I also have no idea what direction I want to go with my life other than I am happy with being content, I don't want to chase money and I hate the idea of being tied down. I think I'm quite a capable person so will be able to do something I don't like but I don't want to end up regretting my choices.
Thanks :)
TL;DR - Go to university and do something I enjoy at a nicer location or have stability for the future by completing a degree apprenticeship with an IT solutions company.
