I have a problem

So I’m a senior and I have all of my required credits to graduate but I took some extra classes so I could keep coming to school so I’m not home all day. Well I’m not passing my extra classes because since I have all of my required credits to graduate a few failed classes that don’t matter shouldn’t hold me back right? Well that’s what I thought but today my teacher told me that the board is threatening to take me out of that class and to put me in credit recovery which doesn’t make sense. If I have all of my required credits to graduate then why does it matter if I’m failing 2 classes that don’t count towards graduation? Am I seriously going to get held back by this? Edit: in my state u need 22 credits to graduate and I have 29.5 also I checked and my gpa is also decent
