What do you think about student choice in the classroom? Separately, how does prioritizing certain subjects in the curriculum work in your country?

How could choice be effectively managed, so it allows for the best possible outcomes? How much choice is the optimal amount for the student?

The post is not with the purpose to state or provide evidence for anything, my aim is to educate myself on the subject, so I would greatly appreciate and diligently look through any articles or studies you refer me to.

What are the specifics in the country where you teach? Is there an option to prioritize certain spheres (STEM, Arts and crafts, Literature and language) in High School especially and to what an extent do you allow students to take part in the decision-making process of what the class collectively works on? Do you think it's an effective strategy to allow for students to voice their preferences in general?
