I've been doing a lot of reminiscing lately and I've just remembered the phenomenon of being put on report in secondary school (UK). I (16f) have been recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and went undiagnosed for most of my childhood and adolescence. I remember being a very vocal student and would often shout out in lessons because I could not seem to grasp the concept of only some times being acceptable to speak aloud. I was put on 'report' for this, essentially a sheet I was given each day and gave my teachers at the end of lesson and there was a little box for them to write in to encourage me to stay quiet. I feel like there were many tell tale ASD signs which somebody should've picked up on before it got to this stage but I'm genuinely confused how this would help anybody even a neurotypical kid with behaviour? does anyone else have any similar stories? I feel Autism in girls is given so little thought in the UK education system and it's actually upsetting.
