How do people in your country help prevent or solve crime?

Hello!

I am a student from The Netherlands, at the moment I have an assignment in which I have to compare citizen participation in solving/preventing crime in different countries. Is there anyone that could tell me a little about how citizen are involved in solving/preventing crime in their country?

A couple of examples from The Netherlands are:

• Citizennet, If people are registerd to citizennet they can receive a notification about a missing or wanted person in their area with a description of that person so they can be on the lookout for them.
• TV programs about crime where people can anonymously report or give tips about criminal activities.

If anyone would be willing to help me then I would be very gratefull!
