Hey everyone,
I've become interested in education reform and edtech in the US recently, and have been reading casually on forums like this, some substack education writers, etc. I'm really interested in the topic from a holistic approach, rather than improving specific pieces. This article really resonated with me, touching on a lot of the things I see as problems with the current system. I also have recently read the chapter on education from The Nordic Theory of Everything, and Finland's education system seems to be doing a lot of the right things. I also read this series on aristocratic style tutoring that I found fascinating.
I'm curious what people here see as the ideal system, if we have good foundations in the US and just need to improve on some problem areas, if we need something else entirely, if everything is working great as is, or somewhere in between.
