I am a teacher in an international high school in Japan, where I teach computer science, maths, and occassionally physics. I also speak fluent Spanish and lead the after school program for Spanish (basically, it's more or less the same as a non-credit class).
I love what I do and my students are all really nice and hardworking. But the pay is just... I have a master's in computer science from a top university (Georgia Tech), and could be making well over six figures in software.
What are your suggestions for an alternative career for a STEM teacher? I would say that my math skills and physics skills are basically at the high school level, and computer science skills are rusty (even though I teach it, it's basically teaching the basics over and over again each year). I would like to stay in Japan as well.
