We live in the UK but grew up in a country where state education was dismal so private education was the only option. So we have little experience and understanding of the school system in the UK. I have a daughter in a year 1 state primary who often complains how the rest of the class is still quite behind and that she is bored doing very basic stuff at school, especially maths. She is more advanced than than the top group in her class. It may just be because she is the oldest. We can afford her to be in a private school but didn't because the commute is much longer. So my question is, would her situation be much different in a private school? I feel she isn't getting the opportunity to be the best she could be. Are there ways to help her while still at state school?
