Does anyone write content as a side gig?

Hey educators, I was just offered a position as a Science Content Writing/Development consultant for a company that I'll keep unnamed for now. The position is independent contracting that I can do outside my day-to-day teaching. The position is offering a starting wage at $25/hr.

Has anyone tried this type of work before as a side hustle? What was your experience like? Is $25 per hour enough for the work expected? How many hours per week did you put in?
