I TA for an undergraduate general chemistry course. We lead discussions, lab, and proctor exams. We routinely need to watch webcam recordings of our students taking exams to see if they have followed all of the environment recording procedures and just to make sure nothing fishy is going on.
Most of my students are taking exams while people in the background are being loud and disrespectful, most of them don't have desks or a table to sit on to take the test. Most of them just don't have a conductive learning environment and watching these videos breaks my heart. Most of the students I have this semester I taught last semester. I was able to interact and get to know them in person before the spring semester was converted online. Many of these students are highly motivated, resilient students. It's so frustrating not being able to control the environment they're in so that they can focus and learn.
