Hello!
I am in the process of creating a conference and though I am not a teacher, I love teaching. Education will be the focus, on either past present, or future topics. The industry doesnt really matter for my questions, I'll just say it's engineering.
I am the process of determining our business plan and one of the issues I have is determining who the audience will be. My original idea was to target the general public; however, a few of the people in discussion with me would like to target a professional demographic.
So my question is, from an educational aspect, what challenges do you see in targeting too large of a group of people?
To get some interesting responses...from a theoretical perspective, can you educate the world? Someone I admire is Bill Nye, he targets kids, but because he was engaging and fun, adults enjoyed him as well.
Do you think it is possible to target the general public but get technical just enough and also fun and engaging that it may attract a Professional audience as well?
Thanks in advance!
