College asking for my full social security # over the phone..?

I just tried to apply to SNHU for a BS in computer science. I was immediately called seconds after applying with someone from SNHU and had an hr long conversation about the college and program. At the end shes like we can officially apply now if you’d like so im like sure. All was going great until she asked for my full social security # and I immediately got paranoid. She said she understood and would send a form over thru docusign to apply if that made me more comfortable. I looked up the number when i hungup and i couldnt find it affiliated with SNHU, but the area code was for southern new hampshire. I went on SNHU.edu and called the posted number to talk to someone about it and it was the exact same woman. Can i trust giving her my social since she’s answering the phone from that # on their website? Im confused and paranoid about identity theft since i dont remember any college asking for my social, let alone on the phone, except for when filling out FAFSA, which i told her i was not doing.
